Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using My Recipe Companion ("the App", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms apply to the My Recipe Companion iOS application and the website at myrecipecompanion.com, operated by My Recipe Companion ("we", "us", or "our").
The Service
What My Recipe Companion does
My Recipe Companion is a personal recipe management app that lets you:
- Extract recipes from cooking videos on supported platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and others).
- Save, organise, and review recipes in your personal library.
- Follow step-by-step cooking instructions in Cook Mode.
The App uses AI-assisted extraction. Extracted recipes may not be perfectly accurate. Always use your judgement when following a recipe, especially regarding allergens, quantities, and cooking temperatures.
Accounts
Your account
You must create an account to use My Recipe Companion. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Acceptable Use
How you may use the App
You agree not to:
- Use the App to infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights.
- Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or scrape our backend services.
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Submit video URLs that contain illegal, harmful, or abusive content.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure or servers.
- Share your account credentials with others or create accounts on behalf of others without authorisation.
Content
Your content and third-party content
When you import a video, you represent that you have the right to use that URL and that doing so does not violate any third-party terms of service or applicable law. My Recipe Companion is a personal tool — extracted recipes are for your private use only.
Recipes extracted from videos belong to their original creators. My Recipe Companion does not claim ownership over extracted recipe content. We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or safety of extracted content.
You retain ownership of any personal data you add to the App (display name, custom recipe edits, etc.).
Intellectual Property
Our intellectual property
The My Recipe Companion app, including its design, code, branding, and original content, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other applicable laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the App without our prior written consent.
Disclaimer
No warranties
My Recipe Companion is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
- Extracted recipes will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your dietary needs.
- The App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions.
You use the App at your own risk. Always verify allergy information, cooking temperatures, and ingredient quantities independently.
Limitation of Liability
Limits on our liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App — including, but not limited to, personal injury, property damage, or data loss — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App will not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Account Deletion
Terminating your account
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account within the App. Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from our systems within 30 days.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice.
Changes
Updates to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify you within the App. Continued use of My Recipe Companion after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing Law
Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
